Assessing risks to adapt water treatment sites to climate change in France
Extreme climate events can affect water and wastewater facilities: for example, plants can flood in the event of heavy rainfall, and fires can break out during heatwaves.
To protect these essential services, we will devise an action plan for all of the priority sites we operate by 2027. The first phase involves assessing each site’s individual risks.
In France, we have already analysed the 150 largest drinking water and wastewater facilities we operate in terms of their exposure to natural risks.
